Through the CHS Seeds for Stewardship program, Franklin County Fire District #1 is receiving $10,000 for firehouse improvement and repair.

“The CHS Seeds for Stewardship grant provides funds to replace an older overhead door on our maintenance building,” says Eric Mauseth, fire chief, Franklin County Fire District #1. “This funding allows us to reallocate operating dollars from our budget to safety items such as personal protective equipment and improvements on fire trucks.”

The CHS Seeds for Stewardship program was designed to support worthwhile organizations and projects that are focused on safety and ag education. The funds like those being donated by CHS SunBasin Growers are part of the CHS commitment to empower a safer, stronger rural America through financial support that goes directly back into communities where CHS owners and employees work, live and do business. 

“The Franklin County Fire District #1 handles all emergency calls and provides protection to two of our locations,” says Tyson Chick, general manager, CHS SunBasin Growers. “We are happy to give back to an organization that provides safety for our employees and local communities.”

With the help of the Seeds for Stewardship grant funds, Franklin County Fire District #1 will replace an aging overhead door and install heat in their firehouse. Heating the building will allow water to remain in fire trucks rather than emptying and refilling each time the truck leaves on a call.

Since 2017, CHS has donated more than $1.84 million in funds through CHS Seeds for Stewardship.
